My family is lucky enough to have a cabin in the Colorado mountains and finally, I live close enough to use it! Each year, we open it up for the summer and close for the winter, but this year we’ve decided to try something new. At my insistence, we’ve decided to keep it open all winter to hike, ski and explore the mountains in way we never have before.
While spending quiet weekends alone at the cabin definitely appeal to me, I decided to take a few friends for some winter hiking. It was a blast! We hiked all day, had drinks and played card games at night, and best of all, we woke up to a foggy morning on the lake with a fire and warm drinks. It doesn’t get better than that.
Our hiking took us to Monarch Lake (just past Lake Granby), through Rocky Mountain National Park and into the Never Summer Wilderness where we discovered a most perfect winter wonderland.
Unsurprisingly, they’re already asking me when we’re headed up again. Soon, guys! Can’t keep me out of the mountains for long…
Here are some shots from our trip!
